With Tottenham Hotspurs calling Haringey their home and the new White Hart Lane Stadium under construction, you can be sure that the area has a lot to offer in terms of football.  It also houses one of London’s few Ikea stores, so it seems the people of Haringey have struck lucky.  With over 61,000 seats, state of the art lighting and fans flocking from far and wide, Ikea is a fantastic place to buy your furniture.  A trip to the stadium isn’t a bad day out either, and come 2019, after its casual £400 million renovation, it is set to be the biggest ground in the capital.  The pitches in Haringey come in a variety of surfaces; grass, astroturf, 3G Astro, concrete and indoor, with the majority of them in fantastic condition.

New River Sport and Fitness

As part of the £4 million transformation of the New River Sport and Fitness facilities, these 3G astroturfs are in mint condition.  With 22 pitches; 10 3G five-a-side, seven-a-side in both grass and 3G surfaces, eleven-a-side grass pitches and a full-sized 3G stadium pitch, there is a size to keep everyone happy.  There is also a range of weekday five-a-side leagues to suit all abilities.  You can join as an individual or sign up your team

Prices:  Five-a-side pitches cost £50 peak (£40 off-peak), seven-a-side grass pitches cost £25 whilst the 3G seven-a-side costs £80.  An eleven-a-side grass pitch equates to £65 during peak times (£35 off-peak), whilst the 3G full sized stadium is £220 peak (£180 off-peak).  These prices refer to hour long bookings.

Park View Academy

This school facility offers five-a-side 3G pitches and also an indoor sports hall which can be used for football.  Both of the pitches are well maintained with clear markings and goals that are intact.  As the pitches are located in a school, they can only be rented out on weekday evenings, from 2.30pm on a Saturday and between 10am and 3pm on a Sunday.

Facilities: Showers, free parking.

Prices: £40 per hour for either pitch

Powerleague Tottenham

Considered to be one of the city’s premium football venues, Powerleague Tottenham has 9 top quality five and seven-a-side pitches with the latest technology 3G surfacing.  The venue is about a 15 minute walk from both White Hart Lane Station and Angel Road Station.  If you want to get involved in matches, the venue hosts Lucozade Powerleague events.  The leagues run over 14 weeks seasons and involve at least 40 minutes of play each session.

Facilities: Showers, floodlights, bar, free parking

Prices:  £84.50 during peak time, £64.50 off-peak for a seven-a-side pitch.

Albert Road Recreation Ground

The grounds are home to a number of great sports facilities, including a well-kept eleven-a-side pitch with grass surfacing.  The venue also provides junior coaching and camps.  For adults, the Crouch End Vampires Football Club, Woodgreen Old Boys and Alexandra Park Football Club all play here.

Facilities:  Showers, on-site cafe, pay and display parking.

Booking information:  The process is a bit of a rigmarole.  All bookings must be made 10 days in advance through Haringey Council.  Phone 020 8489 1000 for location availability and requirement before filling out their booking form and returning it to [email protected].

Down Lane Recreation Ground

Just a short walk from Tottenham Hale Station, the large grass sports field can play host to two full sized football matches.  The pitches are in fairly basic condition but are acceptable for friendly matches or training.  

Facilities:  Pay and display parking.

Booking information:  Bookings are made via the Haringey Council by submitting a completed booking form to [email protected] at least 10 days prior to the desired date of booking.

Muswell Hill Playing Fields

The site covers a humble 10 acres of land and offers 6 grass football pitches plus a further pitch which is a bit temperamental and can be out of action due to bad weather.  The other pitches are in acceptable condition and ideal for some casual play.

Facilities:  No parking
