There are a huge amount of great tennis players out there, many of which will dabble in coaching, but who may not have the experience or qualifications to provide you with the best teaching methods.  When looking for a suitable coach, it is preferable that they are qualified (eg. LTA certified) and if coaching children, it is essential that they are DBS certified (criminal records check).  After that, you of course want a coach exuding enthusiasm, professionalism and confidence.

Finsbury Park Tennis Coaching

The courts, along with the coaching programmes are run by The Access to Sports Project, in association with Finsbury Park Sports Partnership and Harringey Council.  The coaches are licensed by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and provide all round tennis technique in a fun learning environment. 

Juniors: Weekly coaching sessions for ages 6-9 are held between 10 and 11am and for ages 10-13 between 11 and 12pm on both Saturdays and Sundays.  They also run a free tennis scheme on Saturdays for ages 13-19 between 11am and 1pm and 12 and 1pm.  The courses focus on All round tennis technique including forehand, backhand, volley and serve.  Rackets and equipment are provided.  The centre also runs holiday programmes. 

Adults:  Weekend social tennis coaching is available for beginner and intermediate players.  Beginner classes are held on both days from 12-1pm, Intermediate from 1-2pm and advanced intermediate (looking to improve advanced stroke technique and tactical play) from 2-3pm on Saturdays.  There are also Wednesday classes for beginners (6-7pm) and intermediates (7-8pm).  Rackets and equipment are provided.  A 5-week course is £35 or PAYP £10 per session (check if there’s availability beforehand).

Ace Fun Tennis School at Gladstone Park Tennis

These courses are run by professional coach Gabriel Moise and his team.  Together they have a wealth of experience in coaching players to their full potential.

Junior Tennis Coaching in Brent:  Little Joeys (3-5yr olds) train in groups of 4 or less, so each student gets fair attention from the coach.  The aim of this young group is to have lots of fun whilst learning basic hand and eye co-ordination and basic skill.  These cost £155 per 10 week term.  M.L.C. Hotshots is for anyone between the ages of 5 and 17.  The Match Play Programme is for intermediate to advanced players from 12 years and up.  This group focuses on match play, tactics, positioning and scoring.  This course costs £195 for a 10 week term.  Tournaments and leagues are run throughout holidays and sometimes during the year.

Adults Tennis Coaching in Brent: Adult and Mums Group covers a fun and structured programme incorporating all aspects of tennis.  They cost £195 per 10 week term.  There are also Cardio Tennis lessons available where you can burn from 300 to 1000 calories doing fitness drills, whilst wearing heart monitors.  A Fast 4 Social competition has recently been set up, providing a fun, fast approach to competitions.

Adults:  Cardio tennis sessions are held every Wednesday morning between 10 and 11 and every Saturday afternoon between 12 and 1.  The first session is free and only £3 thereafter!  All equipment is provided.
