The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is located in East London on the north bank of the River Thames. You probably don't visit the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham very often and you’ll be excused for doing so because it’s often considered a forgotten Borough. However, with that said Barking and Dagenham was one of only six London Boroughs to host the Summer 2012 Olympics.
Barking Sporthouse had an uncertain future after the Olympics with worries about the utilization of the top end facility. However, you’ll be pleased to know that in 2014 they were awarded a £500,000 grant to develop an extreme sports facility at the site.
Another unexpected surprise is the Eastbury Manor House, located just off Barking’s Eastbury Square. This Grade 1 listed building draws particular attentions as it’s often claimed the Gunpowder plot was contrived there.
OpenPlay is a platform to connect sports facilities to their users. We're breaking down barriers to getting more people active.
