Badminton is one of the speediest sports in the world, with the shuttlecock hurtling around the room at up to 200 miles per hour.  With such speeds to contend with, it’s probably a good idea to take a few lessons and get the basics under your belt.  There are lots of excellent coaches knocking around London who can teach from beginner right up to international level, so you’re sure to find one that suits you.  

Badminton Coaching London

Joel Gayle School of Badminton

The school is based in London, but delivers first class training throughout the city, Essex and Kent.  Joel Gayle was the National Singles champion at 18 and continues to play competitively.  He has been coaching for 12 years, teaching players of all levels from beginner to international standard.  All of the coaches on his team are Level 2 and above as recognised by Badminton England.  The school offer one to one lessons, play the coach sessions, group coaching, masterclasses and seasonal camps for kids.

Sobell Badminton Club

One of North London’s most renowned clubs, Sobell Badminton is part of Sobell Leisure Centre.  It is a welcoming club accepting players of an intermediate plus standard.  They have club sessions on Friday evenings which are run by the head coach Mark.  These sessions can be joined by non-members by signing up via their meetup sight.

Essentials Badminton Coaching

Located throughout London, the Badminton courses are run by Badminton England and are geared specifically towards beginners.  Offering friendly classes to small groups of adults, the courses are run by fully qualified instructors.  In case that’s not incentive enough, you will also receive a free racquet upon completing the course.

Prices:  Standard cost is £40 per 6-8 week course.

No Strings Badminton

This initiative offers drop-in sessions at a number of London sports facilities, where players will receive tips and improve upon their technique, before finishing the sessions with a friendly match.  The lessons are affordable and unintimidating, with many beginners joining each week.
