The London Borough of Harrow is a wonderfully leafy borough. It contains numerous public facilities and general things to do, which all offer great value for money. Some of the house prices in salubrious Harrow-on-the-Hill and neighbouring leafy towns such as Pinner and Northwood stretch into the multimillions and names such as Lord Byron have resided here. Located in the green belt of northwest London, Harrow is the last borough in Greater London before you reach the home counties and has over 50 parks many of which have Free Sports Facilities for the public to use.
The standout of the Harrow Parks has to be Harrow Weald Recreation Park. With a 6 rink bowling green, a cricket pitch with a well maintained square, 4 hard tennis courts, 3 football pitches and a basketball target goal, it has sports facilities that are the envy of every other London borough. For something a bit more accessible to get to Harrow Recreation Ground is a short walk away from Harrow on the Hill station and is perfect for stroll. If you don't mind paying a small amount Centenary Park (further towards Stanmore) has a brand new 5 a side 3G Football Pitch to hire as well as 4 recently resurfaced US Open style tennis courts. And if neither of those tickle your fancy and you fancy yourself as Tiger Woods instead, then you can try your hand at a spot of golf with a 9 hole par 3 course and a putting green.
If the outdoors is just a step too far, especially during the 9 winter months we seem to have in the UK, then there is still an option for you with multiple Sports Centres and schools with facilities to hire. Harrow Leisure Centre has a plethora of sports on offer with a large gym, 2 swimming pools, squash, badminton, table tennis and multiple studios and halls. It even has a creche area so the little ones can be looked after while you relieve some stress. Of course you couldn't write about Harrow without mentioning the famous Harrow School, with manicured sports pitches and state-of-the-art facilities it is no surprise that their list of alumni includes numerous professional sportsmen. Surprisingly they do let their facilities out to the public but they are notoriously and understandably protective.
